Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter monthly take-home pay, other income, housing (rent or mortgage), food and groceries, transport and fuel and utilities and phone.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Balance = (salary + other income) − total spending. Category share = category amount ÷ total income × 100.
Example
Inputs: Monthly take-home pay = 15,000, Other income = 0, Housing (rent or mortgage) = 5,000, Food and groceries = 2,500, Transport and fuel = 1,500. Result: Money left over: 1,000.00; Total income: 15,000.00; Total spending: 14,000.00.
Limits and caveats
- Yearly costs such as school fees and insurance should be divided by 12 before you enter them.
- The categories are broad, so put anything not listed under other spending.
Questions about this tool
What if I see a deficit?
Start with the largest flexible categories, such as entertainment and eating out, then review fixed costs like housing and subscriptions at renewal.
Should saving go in as spending?
You can add a fixed saving amount under other spending. Otherwise the surplus is what you can save.
How much should housing take?
A common guideline suggests keeping housing near or below 30% of income, and the table shows your actual share.
