How it is calculated

Number = thousands + hundreds + tens + units, one letter per part: 700=ذ, 80=ف, 6=و, so 786 = ذفو. 1000 is غ (Mashriqi) or ش (Maghribi).

Example

Inputs: Number = 786, Letter order = Mashriqi (Eastern). Result: Abjad letters: ذفو; Breakdown: ذ 700 + ف 80 + و 6.

Limits and caveats

  • Supports 1 to 1999 because sources differ on writing larger thousands.
  • Letters are written from largest to smallest, the common convention.
