How to use it
- Enter maghrib time, fajr time, water to drink and cup size.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Window = fajr - maghrib (plus 24 hours, since fajr is the next day). Cups = amount ÷ cup size, rounded up. One cup every = window in minutes ÷ cups. ml per hour = amount ÷ window in hours.
Example
Inputs: Maghrib time = 18:00, Fajr time = 04:30, Water to drink = 2 L, Cup size = 250 ml. Result: Number of cups: 8; Time from iftar to fajr: 10.5 hours; One cup every: 79 minutes.
Limits and caveats
- You set the amount, for example from the daily water calculator; food and soup also add water.
- People with heart or kidney disease should keep to the fluid amount their doctor sets.
Questions about this tool
Should I drink all the water at iftar?
Spreading it over the whole window is easier on the stomach, and a large amount at once is partly lost quickly.
How much water should I drink in Ramadan?
Aim for your usual fluid needs, around 2 litres of drinks for adults in many references, spread between iftar and suhoor.
Do tea and coffee count as water?
They add to fluids, but a lot of caffeine can make some people thirstier during the day.
