How it is calculated
The date is turned into a serial day number in the Gregorian calendar; the weekday is that number mod 7, knowing that 1 January 1970 was a Thursday. The Hijri date comes from the Umm al-Qura tables.

Limits and caveats
- The Hijri date follows the Umm al-Qura calendar and can differ by a day from moon sighting in your country.
