How it is calculated
The size is first turned into a US size, then into the other systems. Chart used: UK = AU = US + 4, EU = US + 32, FR = US + 34, IT = US + 38, JP = US + 5. Letters: XS = US 0 and 2, S = 4 and 6, M = 8 and 10, L = 12 and 14, XL = 16 and 18, XXL = 20 and 22.

Inputs: Size system = EU (EU), Size = 38. Result: Letter size: S; US size (US): 6; UK size (UK): 10.
Limits and caveats
- Based on the common retail conversion chart, not a binding official standard. Chart used: UK = AU = US + 4, EU = US + 32, FR = US + 34, IT = US + 38, JP = US + 5.
- Brands differ and can be a full size apart, so check the brand chart before you order.
- Covers US sizes 0 to 22 only, not petite or maternity sizing.
Questions about this tool
How do EU, French and Italian sizes differ?
All three step by 2, but French runs 2 above EU and Italian runs 6 above. So EU 38 equals FR 40 and IT 44.
Why is a size like UK 11 rejected?
On this chart UK women's sizes are even only and Japanese sizes are odd only, so a number that does not exist in that system cannot be converted.
Does it work for tops and shirts too?
Yes, the same chart covers women's dresses, tops, shirts and jackets. Jeans use a separate waist number.
