How to use it

  1. Enter arabic text and write لا as one cell.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Each letter has a fixed cell in unified Arabic Braille (ا = 1, ب = 12, ت = 2345), لا is one cell 1236, and numbers start with the number sign ⠼. Diacritics are removed.

Example

Inputs: Write لا as one cell = yes. Result: Arabic Braille: ⠁⠇⠎⠧⠍ ⠷⠇⠊⠅⠍; Unsupported symbols: None.

السلام عليكم
⠁⠇⠎⠧⠍ ⠷⠇⠊⠅⠍

Limits and caveats

  • Diacritics are removed and vowel marks are not written, although Arabic Braille has cells for them.
  • Punctuation and Latin letters are not supported and stay as they are.
  • A letter right after a number with no space may be read as a digit, so separate them with a space.

Questions about this tool

Is Arabic Braille written right to left?

No. Arabic Braille is written and read left to right like every Braille system, so the result runs left to right.

Why is لا written as one cell?

Lam-alif has its own cell (dots 1236) in unified Arabic Braille. Untick the option to write it as two letters.

Does hamza have its own cells?

Yes. The standalone hamza and its forms on alif, waw and yaa have their own cells, as do taa marbuta and alif maqsura.
