Binary to text converter
Paste binary digits to read the text inside. Spaced groups of up to 8 bits work, and so does one joined string whose length is a multiple of 8.

Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter binary.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each binary group becomes a byte value: 01001000 = 64 + 8 = 72, then the bytes are decoded as UTF-8 into characters.
Example
Result: Decoded text: Hi; Characters: 2; Bytes: 2.
Limits and caveats
- Bytes are decoded as UTF-8 only; bytes from other encodings are reported as invalid.
- A joined string must be a multiple of 8 digits long.
Questions about this tool
Do I need spaces between every 8 bits?
No. A joined string is split every 8 digits, as long as its length is a multiple of 8.
Why does it say the bytes are not valid UTF-8?
Some bytes do not form a complete character, such as the first byte of an Arabic letter without its second byte.
Does it accept 7-bit groups?
Yes when they are separated by spaces, since each group is read as its own number, e.g. 1001000 = 72.
