Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter text and separator.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
The text is encoded to UTF-8 bytes, then each byte (0 to 255) is written in base 2 with 8 digits, e.g. H = 72 = 01001000.
Example
Inputs: Separator = Space. Result: Binary: 01001000 01101001; Bytes: 2; Characters: 2.
Hi
01001000 01101001
Limits and caveats
- Output follows UTF-8. The same text in another encoding such as Windows-1256 gives different bytes.
Questions about this tool
Why does an Arabic letter show two 8-bit groups?
Arabic letters sit between U+0600 and U+06FF, which need two bytes in UTF-8, so each letter becomes two bytes.
Is this the same as ASCII binary?
Yes for English letters, digits and basic symbols, because UTF-8 matches ASCII for values 0 to 127.
How do I turn the binary back into text?
Use the binary to text converter and paste the groups, spaced or joined.
