One price page in my catalog has a mistake. How do I swap in a corrected page without rebuilding the whole file?

You do not need to reopen the design file. Replacing one page takes three steps: delete the wrong page, merge the corrected page onto the end, then move it back to its original position. Every other page is copied as it is, with no change in quality.

Before you start: export the corrected page on its own

Fix the price in whatever program you designed that page in, and export just that page as a one-page PDF. There is no need to export the whole catalog again. What matters is that the page size matches the rest of the catalog, otherwise it will look smaller or bigger than its neighbours when someone flips through.

In this example the catalog has 12 pages and page 5 is the price page with the mistake.

The three steps

  1. Open Delete PDF pages and choose the catalog. Type 5 in the pages field or click its thumbnail so it gets the red frame, check the summary says 11 pages will remain, and download the new file.
  2. Open Merge PDFs and add the file you just downloaded first, then the corrected page, in that order. You get a 12-page catalog with the corrected page last.
  3. Open Reorder PDF pages on the merged file, move page 12 to position 5, and download the final version.
Worked example

Original catalog: 12 pages, the mistake is on page 5.

After deleting, pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 remain, which is 11 pages.

After merging, the corrected page is page 12; after moving it, it is back at position 5.

Why three steps instead of one?

Each tool does one job and shows you the result, so you can check each step before the next. The delete tool builds a new file from the remaining pages only, so nothing of the old price page survives inside it. That matters here: you do not want someone to find the wrong price hidden in the file after you sent the corrected version.

What to check in the final file

  • If page numbers are printed as part of the design, make sure the corrected page carries the same number 5, because none of these tools edit the text printed on a page.
  • Bookmarks and document details such as the author name do not come through the delete and merge steps, so if your catalog relies on a side outline you will need to recreate it in the design program.
  • Open the final file and look at pages 4, 5 and 6 in particular, to confirm the order and that the page size matches.
  • Your original file stays untouched on your device, so keep it until you are happy with the new one.

If several pages have mistakes, the same method works: delete all the wrong pages in one pass, merge one file holding all the corrected pages, then arrange them. If the change touches half the catalog, exporting again from the design file is quicker and cleaner.

Common questions

Do the photos on the other catalog pages lose quality?

No. The pages are copied as they are, with no recompression or redrawing, so images and text keep their original quality.

Can I put the corrected page in place during the merge itself?

The merge tool orders files, not the pages inside them, so the corrected page lands at the end and you move it with Reorder PDF pages.
