I want to turn the pages of a signed contract into images; does the site keep a copy of my file?

Nothing is kept, because nothing is received. The contract is read and drawn inside your browser with pdf.js and is never uploaded. The images exist only in your browser and then in your downloads folder, so treat them with the same care as the contract itself.

Where the work actually happens

The site sends your browser the code that draws PDF pages, and your file never travels the other way. When you pick the contract, the browser reads it straight from your device, draws each page onto a canvas in memory and encodes it as PNG or JPEG. There is no upload step and no server receiving the file or the images, which is why there is nothing to keep.

During conversion, each page's memory is released as soon as that page is done, before the next one starts. What remains on the page is only the finished images ready to download and their small previews. Close the tab or pick another file and those go too.

What stays on your device afterwards

  • The images you downloaded, in your downloads folder, with names such as contract-p4.png for a 6 page contract.
  • A ZIP, if you used Download all.
  • On a shared office computer, anyone who opens that downloads folder can see them. Move them somewhere safe or delete them when you are done.

What the contract loses when it becomes a picture

This matters more than the privacy question. If the contract carries a digital signature inside the PDF, that signature is bound to the file and its content. An image does not carry it: it is a drawing of the page that shows what the signature or stamp looks like, and nobody can verify it from the picture. Even a scanned handwritten signature becomes just a picture inside a picture.

  • If someone needs the contract as an official document, send the original PDF, not images.
  • Use images for a quick review or to point at one clause in a chat, and usually convert just that page in PDF to images.
  • If you send an image of a page with sensitive details such as an ID or bank account number, remember that images get forwarded far more easily than a protected file.

Protected contracts

If the contract is password-protected or encrypted, the tool refuses it and does not try to open it. There is no password field, which also means you never type a sensitive password into a website.

Common questions

Does any analytics on the site see the file's content?

The file's content never leaves your browser, and neither the text nor the images are sent anywhere.

Do the images stay in the browser after I close the tab?

No. Images you did not download are gone when the tab closes, and the ones you downloaded live only in your downloads folder.

Is an image of the contract valid as proof?

That depends on the other party and your agreement, and the tool gives no legal opinion. The safe habit is to always keep the original PDF.
