How to issue a payment receipt as a PDF

A customer paid a deposit for an order that is not ready yet, or sent a transfer and wants proof you received it. A receipt is a simple document, but it protects you and the customer and prevents disputes later.

What should a receipt carry?

  • The receipt number and date, and the related invoice number if there is one.
  • The amount and currency.
  • The payment method: cash, bank transfer or card, with the transfer reference if there is one.
  • What the payment is for, such as “Advance payment for order 120”.
  • Your details as the party receiving the money, and the details of the customer who paid.
Worked example

The tool's preloaded example: 1500 riyals received by bank transfer as an advance payment against an invoice.

The amount shows the same way in the summary and in the file: 1,500.00 SAR.

An amount like 99.999 riyals is rounded to 100.00 SAR because the riyal has two decimals, while Kuwaiti dinars show three, such as 25.500 KWD.

How to do it

  1. Open the Receipt generator and choose the document language, then enter the receipt number and date.
  2. Enter the amount and currency and pick the payment method.
  3. Write what the payment is for.
  4. Enter your details and the customer's details.
  5. Press “Create PDF”, check the preview, then download the file.

Receipt or invoice?

A receipt proves you received money. An invoice details what you sold: items, quantities, prices and tax. The receipt here is a single amount with no line items and no separate tax. What to know

  • The tool does not check that a payment actually happened and is not connected to any bank. The receipt is a document you issue on your own responsibility, and the file footer says so.
  • The tool does not store receipt numbers or generate a sequence. Type the number yourself and keep a record.
  • The amount is not written out in words.
  • Nothing is saved after you close the page, so download the file before closing it.

Common questions

Is a receipt a tax invoice?

No. It only proves that money was received, and does not itemise goods or tax.

Can I issue it in Arabic and English together?

Yes, choose both languages when you pick the document language.

Are my customer's details sent to a server?

No, the file is created inside your browser.
