How do I issue a receipt for money I received through Apple Pay or a payment app?

If the payment went through a card terminal, Apple Pay is a card payment: pick 'Card'. If it arrived app to app, through a wallet or a payment link, pick 'Other' and type the app name and transaction reference in the details, for example 'STC Pay - ref 88412'. With 'Other' that field is required, because it is what names the method on the receipt.

Card, bank transfer or Other?

The tool offers four methods: Cash, Bank transfer, Card and Other. Apple Pay or Google Pay tapped on your terminal settles like a card, and your terminal slip shows the last four digits, so 'Card' is the honest choice. A wallet transfer is different: calling it a bank transfer sends your accountant hunting through a bank statement for a line that is not there. 'Other' lets you name it precisely.

The printout differs too. With the first three methods, the method name prints first and your details follow after a short dash. With 'Other', the word 'Other' is not printed at all; only your text is. So write it so that someone reading it cold understands it.

Worked example: 480 riyals through a wallet

  1. Open the Receipt generator, enter 480 with SAR as the currency; the summary shows 480.00 SAR.
  2. Choose 'Other' as the payment method.
  3. In 'Payment method details' type 'STC Pay - ref 88412': the app, then the transaction number exactly as it appears in the app's history.
  4. Write what it was for, such as 'Order 2291, oud perfume 100 ml', then fill in your details and the customer's.
  5. Create the PDF and check that the method line reads the way you intended.

Leave the details empty with 'Other' and no file is created; the field is highlighted as required. That is deliberate: a receipt that just says 'Other' tells nobody anything.

Confirm it landed before you issue anything

Some customers send a screenshot the moment they tap send. The receipt is your statement that you received the money, and the tool connects to no wallet or bank to check. Open your own app, find the payment by amount and time, and copy the reference from your history rather than from the customer's screenshot. Then issue the receipt.

Getting it to the customer

People who pay by app are usually already chatting with you. Download the PDF and send it in the same thread where the order was placed. If you want a link on your shop or profile that opens a chat with you directly so customers can send proof of payment, build one with the WhatsApp link generator.

Common questions

What about a payment link from my gateway?

Use 'Other' and name it, for example 'Payment link - order 2291', once the gateway shows the payment as completed.

How long can the details be?

Up to 80 characters, which is plenty for an app name and a reference number.
