My product page URL is in Arabic. How will it look in the link line under the title in search results?

In the preview, an Arabic path shows as readable words separated by ›, such as example.com › عطور › دهن-العود, because the tool decodes each path segment the way many search results do. If the domain name itself is Arabic, it shows in the technical form starting with xn--, since that is what the browser's URL API returns. Real display can differ between engines.

An Arabic path: from codes to words

Copy an Arabic page URL from the browser and paste it elsewhere, and it can come out long and full of codes such as %D8%B9. That is how Arabic letters are encoded inside a URL. In the Search snippet preview we entered the URL with its Arabic letters:

https://example.com/عطور/دهن-العود

The path line came out as:

example.com › عطور › دهن-العود

We also tried the same kind of URL in encoded form, https://example.com/%D8%B9%D8%B7%D9%88%D8%B1/, and got example.com › عطور. So the tool decodes in both cases, and it does not matter which form you paste. The hyphen inside «دهن-العود» stays, as it is part of the page name.

An Arabic domain: the xn-- form

Some shops use a domain written entirely in Arabic. We tried a domain like «متجر.السعودية» with an Arabic path:

xn--pgbep1f.xn--mgberp4a5d4ar › عطور

The path stayed readable, but the domain showed in the technical form browsers convert non-Latin domains to internally. The tool shows the host as the browser's URL API returns it; search engines may show it in Arabic letters or in this form, and the preview cannot predict which.

Is an Arabic URL a good idea?

  • In the result line it reads naturally for an Arabic-speaking searcher, which is a plus.
  • Copied into a message or a platform that does not decode it, it turns long and full of codes, and can get cut in some places.
  • Some platforms build the URL from the product name automatically, so you get an Arabic URL without choosing one. Check your platform's settings if you want control.
  • If you prefer a short Latin URL, or want to tidy an Arabic one, draft the path with the URL slug generator and preview it here.

Previewing it

  1. Copy the page URL from the browser's address bar, in whatever form it shows.
  2. Paste it into the URL field along with the title and description.
  3. Look at the path line: do its words describe the page? Is it longer than needed because of nested categories?
  4. If a message mentions parameters or a #fragment, remove them and preview the clean URL.

Remember that changing the URL of a published page breaks old links to it unless you redirect them, that the tool does not open your URL or check the page exists, and that nothing in the preview affects ranking.

Common questions

Does the preview read right to left for an Arabic page?

The preview's direction follows the first letter of the title. The path line is shown left to right because it starts with the host.

Does the browser accept an Arabic URL without encoding?

Yes, the browser encodes it automatically when opening it, and the tool accepts both forms.
