How to use it
- Enter stock at market value, cash in till and bank, collectible customer debts, current liabilities (suppliers, wages), nisab basis and price of 1 g of 24k gold.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Base = stock at market value + cash + collectible receivables - current liabilities. If base ≥ nisab (85 × gold or 595 × silver price), zakat = base × 2.5%.
Example
Inputs: Stock at market value = 200,000, Cash in till and bank = 50,000, Collectible customer debts = 30,000, Current liabilities (suppliers, wages) = 40,000, Nisab basis = Gold (85 g). Result: Zakat due: 6,000.00; Zakatable base: 240,000.00; Nisab in money: 34,000.00.
Limits and caveats
- Fixed assets such as premises, equipment and vehicles are not in the base.
- Valuing stock at market price or at cost is debated; the tool uses whatever you enter.
- Assumes a full lunar year and a 2.5% rate.
Questions about this tool
Do I value stock at cost or selling price?
The common view is market value on the zakat date, what it normally sells for; some bodies use the wholesale price.
Are bad debts included?
Many scholars say debts owed by someone unable or unwilling to pay are not zakated until received, so enter collectible debts only.
What about companies in Saudi Arabia?
Companies under ZATCA follow its own zakat regulations; this tool is a personal estimate only.
