How to use it
- Enter number of cattle.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Under 30: none. 30 to 39: 1 tabi (1 year old). 40 to 59: 1 musinnah (2 years old). 60 or more: take the full tens and split them into 30 × tabi + 40 × musinnah.
Example
Inputs: Number of cattle = 70. Result: Due: 1 tabi + 1 musinnah; Tabi (1-year-old calf): 1; Musinnah (2-year-old): 1.
Limits and caveats
- The table is for herds grazing freely most of the year (majority view); fodder-fed cattle owe none unless kept for trade.
- When more than one split works (e.g. 120), scholars differ on who chooses; the tool lists them all.
Questions about this tool
Are buffalo added to cattle?
Yes. Most jurists treat buffalo as a kind of cattle for zakat.
What is a tabi and a musinnah?
A tabi has completed one year; a musinnah has completed two years.
What about counts between tens, like 75?
Animals between two levels are exempt, so 75 is treated as 70: one tabi and one musinnah.
