CRC32 checksum calculator
Computes the standard CRC-32 check value that catches accidental transfer and storage errors, matching what archive tools show per file.

Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter text or bytes and input type.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Polynomial division by the generator 0x04C11DB7 in its reflected form 0xEDB88320, starting from 0xFFFFFFFF and XORing the result with 0xFFFFFFFF at the end.
Example
Inputs: Input type = Text (UTF-8). Result: CRC-32 (hex): cbf43926; Decimal value: 3,421,780,262; Input size: 9 bytes.
123456789
cbf43926
Limits and caveats
- CRC-32 only catches accidental errors and is easy to forge on purpose, so it is not a security check.
- Other variants such as CRC-32C and CRC-32/BZIP2 give different results; this tool computes the standard variant only.
Questions about this tool
How can I tell this is the right variant?
The reference check value for the text 123456789 in this variant is cbf43926, which is what the tool shows by default.
Why do other programs show it in uppercase?
It is the same value; hex letter case does not change the number, and both forms appear in the results.
How is CRC32 different from MD5?
CRC32 is only 32 bits and built for fast error detection, while MD5 is a 128-bit hash that makes accidental collisions far rarer.
