How to use it
- Enter harvest weight, watering, nisab and price per kg (optional).
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
If harvest ≥ nisab (5 wasq = 300 sa): zakat = harvest × 10% if rain-fed, 5% if irrigated at cost, or 7.5% if watered both ways equally.
Example
Inputs: Harvest weight = 1,000 kg, Watering = Rain or rivers, no cost (10%), Nisab = 612 kg. Result: Zakat from harvest: 100 kg; Rate: 10%; Status: Nisab reached, zakat is due.
Limits and caveats
- The nisab is 5 wasq = 300 sa; its weight in kg differs between scholars (about 612 to 653 kg) and by crop, so adjust it.
- Which crops are zakatable is itself debated between the schools.
Questions about this tool
Does crop zakat need a full year?
No. It is due at harvest, as the Quran says: give its due on the day of its harvest.
Can I deduct farming costs?
The rate already reflects watering costs; deducting other expenses and debts is debated.
What if watering was not half and half?
The common view follows the main method: mostly rain means 10%, mostly paid watering means 5%.
