How to use it
- Enter edge length and length unit.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Volume = a³, surface area = 6a², face diagonal = a√2, space diagonal = a√3, where a is the edge length.
Example
Inputs: Edge length = 10, Length unit = Centimeter (cm). Result: Volume: 1,000 cm³; Total surface area: 600 cm²; Face diagonal: 14.1421 cm.
Limits and caveats
- Assumes a true cube with equal edges and right angles.
- Results are in the cube or square of the unit you chose, so enter every dimension in that same unit.
Questions about this tool
How do I calculate the volume of a cube?
Multiply the edge length by itself three times. A cube with a 3 cm edge holds 27 cm³.
What is the difference between the face and space diagonal?
The face diagonal joins opposite corners of one face and equals a√2. The space diagonal runs through the cube between opposite corners and equals a√3.
How many liters fit in a 1 meter cube?
One cubic meter is exactly 1000 liters.
