How it is calculated
Annual base = 12 × (pay − insurance) − personal exemption. Up to 600,000: 0% to 40,000, 10% to 55,000, 15% to 70,000, 20% to 200,000, 22.5% to 400,000, 25% to 1,200,000, 27.5% above. Above 600,000 the lower brackets drop out step by step by income tier.
Example
Inputs: Taxable monthly salary = 25,000 EGP, Employee social insurance per month = 1,500 EGP, Annual personal exemption = 20,000 EGP. Result: Monthly tax: 3,641.67 EGP; Annual tax: 43,700.00 EGP; Annual taxable income: 262,000.00 EGP.
Limits and caveats
- Brackets are those in force since Law 7 of 2024 and can change with a new law.
- It does not compute social insurance for you or round the base to the nearest EGP 10 as the tax authority does.
- The exemption for persons with disabilities is EGP 30,000; edit the field if it applies.
Questions about this tool
What is the personal exemption in Egypt?
EGP 20,000 a year, taken off income before the brackets apply.
What is the bracket removal rule?
Above EGP 600,000 of annual base the 0% bracket is lost, and more lower brackets drop as income rises, until only 25% and 27.5% apply above 1,200,000.

Yes. The employee's social insurance share comes off pay before the base is worked out.
