How it is calculated

Julian Day Number = 1724220 + 365 × (year minus 1) + floor(year / 4) + 30 × (month minus 1) + day, then converted to a Gregorian date with the standard algorithm.

Example

Inputs: Ethiopian year = 2,019, Month = 1. Meskerem, Day = 21. Result: Gregorian date: Thursday, October 1, 2026 (2026-10-01); Weekday: Thursday; Written out: 1 October 2026.

Limits and caveats

  • Accepts Ethiopian years 1892 to 2093 (about 1900 to 2100).
  • Day 6 of Pagume exists only when year mod 4 = 3.
