How to use it
- Type the value in the gigabits box.
- Read the result in terabits as you type, and pick the precision you need.
- Swap the direction to convert back, or copy the result.
How it is calculated
Tbit = Gbit × 0.001
Multiply the value in gigabits by 0.001 to get terabits.
Example
To convert 25 Gbit to terabits: 25 × 0.001 = 0.025 Tbit.
Conversion table
| Gigabits (Gbit) | Terabits (Tbit) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.001 |
| 2 | 0.002 |
| 3 | 0.003 |
| 5 | 0.005 |
| 10 | 0.01 |
| 20 | 0.02 |
| 25 | 0.025 |
| 50 | 0.05 |
| 100 | 0.1 |
| 250 | 0.25 |
| 500 | 0.5 |
| 1,000 | 1 |
About the units
- Gigabit
- A decimal unit equal to exactly 10^9 bits, which is 125,000,000 bytes.
- Terabit
- A decimal unit equal to exactly 10^12 bits, which is 125 decimal gigabytes.
Limits and caveats
- Results are rounded for display and computed with the browser's floating point precision (about 15 significant digits).
- Both unit factors are exact by their official definitions.
Questions about this tool
How many terabits are in one gigabit?
1 Gbit = 0.001 Tbit exactly.
How do I convert gigabits to terabits?
Use Tbit = Gbit × 0.001. For example, 25 Gbit = 0.025 Tbit.
How many gigabits are in one terabit?
1 Tbit = 1,000 Gbit.
Why does a 1 TB drive show about 931 GB on my computer?
Drive makers count 1 TB as 10^12 bytes, while Windows divides by 2^30 and labels the result GB even though it is really GiB. So 10^12 ÷ 1,073,741,824 gives about 931.32, and no space is missing.
What is the difference between a kilobyte and a kibibyte?
A kilobyte (kB) is a decimal unit of 1000 bytes and a kibibyte (KiB) is a binary unit of 1024 bytes. The same split applies to mega and mebi, giga and gibi, and the gap grows at each step.
