How to use it
- Enter gold weight, karat, price you know, price per gram and zakat rate.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Pure gold = weight × karat ÷ 24. Zakat is due if pure gold ≥ 85 g. Value = pure gold × 24K price (or weight × your karat price). Zakat = value × 2.5%.
Example
Inputs: Gold weight = 100 g, Karat = 21K, Price you know = Price of 1 g of 24K, Price per gram = 400, Zakat rate = 2.5 %. Result: Zakat due: 875.00; Pure gold weight: 87.5 g; Gold value: 35,000.00.
Limits and caveats
- Uses the majority nisab of 85 g of pure gold and 2.5%; some scholars estimate the nisab differently.
- Most schools exempt worn jewellery; the Hanafi school does not.
- Stones and making charges are not part of the gold weight.
