How it is calculated
Gregorian year = Saka year + 78. Start at 1 Chaitra (22 March, or 21 March in a leap year) and add the earlier months: Chaitra 30 or 31, months 2 to 6 at 31 days, the rest at 30, then (day minus 1).
Example
Inputs: Saka year = 1,948, Month = 7. Ashvina, Day = 9. Result: Gregorian date: Thursday, October 1, 2026 (2026-10-01); Weekday: Thursday; Written out: 1 October 2026.
Limits and caveats
- Accepts Saka years 1879 to 2022 (1957 to 2100).
- It does not convert Hindu lunar dates (tithi).
