How it is calculated
Indemnity = (pay ÷ 26) × 15 days for each of the first 5 years + one month of pay for each later year, capped at 18 months of pay. On resignation: nothing under 3 years, half from 3 to 5, two thirds above 5 and under 10, full from 10.
Example
Inputs: Last monthly pay = 1,200 KWD, Years of service = 6 years, Extra months = 0 months, Extra days = 0 days, Why the job ended = Employee resigned. Result: Indemnity due: 3,107.69 KWD; Full indemnity: 4,661.54 KWD; Share of the indemnity: 66.67%.
Limits and caveats
- Covers monthly paid workers; daily or piece-rate workers earn fewer days.
- Dividing by 26 is the usual way to get a monthly worker's daily pay; you can pick 30 instead.
