How to use it

  1. Enter 24k weight, 22k weight, 21k weight, 18k weight, price of 1 g of 24k gold and zakat rate.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Pure = (w24 × 24 + w22 × 22 + w21 × 21 + w18 × 18) ÷ 24. If pure ≥ 85 g, zakat = pure × 24K price per gram × 2.5%.

Example

Inputs: 24K weight = 0 g, 22K weight = 60 g, 21K weight = 40 g, 18K weight = 0 g, Price of 1 g of 24K gold = 400 per g. Result: Zakat due: 900.00; Total pure gold: 90 g; Gold value: 36,000.00.

Limits and caveats

  • Uses a nisab of 85 g of pure gold and 2.5%; some scholars estimate the nisab differently.
  • Whether worn jewellery is included follows the scholarly difference on jewellery zakat.

Questions about this tool

Are different karats added together?

Yes. All gold is converted to pure gold and the total is compared with the nisab.

Why only the 24K price?

Every weight is converted to pure gold, so one pure gold price values all of it.

What about 14K or 9K?

Convert it by hand as weight × karat ÷ 24 and add the result to the 24K field.
