How it is calculated
Digits are split into runs of the same digit, and the run length picks the letter on that key: 7 = P, 77 = Q, 777 = R, 7777 = S; 0 is a space.

Limits and caveats
- Two letters in a row on the same key need a space between them, or they read as one letter.
- A run longer than the key's letters shows as ?, although some phones wrapped back to the first letter.
Questions about this tool
Why is there a ? in the result?
That run is longer than its key's letters, such as 22222 when key 2 holds only three letters.
Do I need spaces between all letters?
Only between two letters on the same key. Different digits split on their own, so 4433 reads HE.
What does 0 mean?
A space between words, as on most older phones.
