How it is calculated
Gross = basic + allowances. Insurance = gross × insurance rate. Tax = (gross − insurance) × tax rate. Net = gross − insurance − tax − fixed deductions.
Example
Inputs: Monthly basic pay = 12,000, Monthly allowances = 3,000, Insurance or pension rate = 11 %, Tax rate = 0 %, Fixed deductions = 0. Result: Net monthly salary: 13,350.00; Total deductions: 1,650.00; Share of gross withheld: 11%.
Limits and caveats
- Tax is a flat rate here; for bracket-based tax use your country's calculator.
- It assumes insurance is charged on the whole gross; some systems charge it on part of it.
Questions about this tool
What is the difference between gross and net pay?
Gross is what you earn before deductions; net is what reaches your account after insurance, tax and other deductions.
Why is tax worked out after insurance?
Many systems let the insurance contribution reduce the taxable amount first.
Can I leave tax at zero?
Yes. In Gulf countries with no income tax, set the rate to zero.
