How it is calculated

Meal calories = daily calories × its share ÷ 100, with shares adding to 100%. Fasting hours = maghrib - fajr. Eating window = 24 - fasting hours.

Example

Inputs: Daily calories = 2,000 kcal/day, Iftar share = 50 %, Suhoor share = 30 %, Snack share (between meals) = 20 %, Fajr time = 04:30. Result: Iftar calories: 1,000 kcal; Suhoor calories: 600 kcal; Snack calories: 400 kcal.

Limits and caveats

  • There is no single official meal split; the default shares are an editable example.
  • People with diabetes and pregnant women should ask their doctor about fasting and meal timing.
  • Fajr and maghrib times change daily, so enter them from your local timetable.

Questions about this tool

Should I eat fewer calories in Ramadan?

To keep your weight, keep your usual calories spread over the meals. To lose weight, lower the total.

Why is a late suhoor advised?

Eating suhoor close to fajr shortens the real fasting period and keeps you full longer.

What should suhoor include?

Choose slow-digesting foods such as oats, eggs, fava beans and wholegrain bread, with enough water.
