How it is calculated
Each letter is drawn evenly from the chosen alphabet, so one letter has a 1 / 28 chance per draw in Arabic and 1 / 26 in English.
Example
Inputs: Alphabet = Arabic (28 letters), How many letters = 1, No repeats = no, Draw number = 1. Result: Letters: ه; Letters in the alphabet: 28; Chance of one letter per draw: 3.5714%.
Limits and caveats
- The Arabic set is the 28 base letters, without hamza, taa marbuta or alif maqsura.
- All letters are equally likely, not weighted by how common they are.
Questions about this tool
How do I use it for a category game?
Draw one letter per round, or turn on no repeats and raise the count to set all the rounds in advance.
Why only 28 Arabic letters?
These are the base letters from alif to yaa. Hamza and taa marbuta are written forms usually not counted as separate letters in these games.
Can letters repeat?
Yes by default. Turn on no repeats if you want different letters.
