How it is calculated
Weighted grade = sum of (score × weight) ÷ sum of weights. A score written as 45/50 becomes 90%.
Example
Result: Weighted grade: 83.9%; Total weight: 100; Points earned out of the total weight: 83.9.
Limits and caveats
- If the weights add to less than 100, the result is your average on graded work only.
- Some teachers grade by total points rather than weights, so check how your course works.
Questions about this tool
Do the weights have to add up to 100?
No. The tool divides by the weights you enter, so you get your current average even before the final.
How do I enter a score like 18 out of 20?
Type 18/20 followed by the weight, and it becomes 90% automatically.
Can I label each item?
Yes. Put the name first, then the score and weight, for example: Quiz 1 88 25.
