How to use it

  1. Enter find, distance, speed, time: hours and time: minutes.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Speed = distance ÷ time, distance = speed × time, time = distance ÷ speed. 1 mile = 1.609344 km.

Example

Inputs: Find = Time, Distance = 120 km, Speed = 80 km/h, Time: hours = 1, Time: minutes = 30. Result: Time in hours: 1.5 h; Time: 1:30 h:mm.

Limits and caveats

  • A constant speed is assumed, so the result is an average that ignores stops.
  • Distance is in km and speed in km/h, with the mile equivalent shown.

Questions about this tool

How do I enter a time like two and a quarter hours?

Type 2 in hours and 15 in minutes.

Why do I see fields I do not need?

The field you are solving for is ignored. When finding time, for example, the hours and minutes fields have no effect.

How do I convert the speed to meters per second?

Divide km/h by 3.6, so 72 km/h is 20 m/s.
