Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter text and output style.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Letters sit in a 5 × 5 grid without K: row 1 is A to E, and so on. A letter is sent as taps for its row, then taps for its column, so H is 2 then 3.
Example
Inputs: Output style = Numbers (23 15). Result: Tap code: 23 15 31 31 34; Letters converted: 5; Unsupported symbols: None.
Hello
23 15 31 31 34
Limits and caveats
- K is sent as C, so it decodes to C and is read from context.
- Digits, punctuation and Arabic letters have no place in the grid; spell numbers out.
Questions about this tool
Why is there no K in the grid?
The grid has only 25 squares for 26 letters, so K shares a square with C, which sounds alike.
How do I separate letters when tapping?
A short pause between the row and column taps, and a longer pause between letters.
How is tap code different from Morse?
Morse uses short and long signals, while tap code only counts taps, so it needs no special equipment.
