Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter encoded text.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each \uXXXX becomes a UTF-16 unit (surrogate pairs join into one character), and each \u{X}, \UXXXXXXXX and U+XXXX becomes the character with that code point. The rest of the text is kept.
Example
Result: Text: مرحبا 😀; Escapes converted: 7.
مرحبا 😀
مرحبا 😀
Limits and caveats
- Other escapes like
or \x41 are left alone; use the JavaScript unescape tool for those.
- A lone surrogate like \uD83D without its partner gives an invalid character.
Questions about this tool
Why does Arabic show as ال?
Some programs and APIs store non-Latin letters as Unicode escapes so they survive ASCII-only transport.
Does it read the U+0645 format?
Yes, and it drops the spaces between consecutive U+ codes so words come back joined.
Does hex letter case matter?
No. ح and ح give the same letter.
