How it is calculated
The first four digits are the year, then two for the month and two for the day. The date is checked and rewritten: 20261225 becomes 25/12/2026.

Limits and caveats
- Digits are always read as year, month, day, so DDMMYYYY input is not understood.
- The 6-digit YYMMDD form is not supported because the century is unknown.

Does this work for an Excel date number such as 45292?
No, that is a serial number counting days since 1900 and has its own tool. This one is for 8-digit written dates only.
