Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter amount saved, nisab basis, price of 1 g of 24k gold, price of 1 g of pure silver and zakat rate.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Nisab = 85 × gold price per gram or 595 × silver price per gram. If amount ≥ nisab, zakat = amount × 2.5%; otherwise none.
Example
Inputs: Amount saved = 100,000, Nisab basis = Gold (85 g), Price of 1 g of 24K gold = 400 per g, Price of 1 g of pure silver = 5 per g, Zakat rate = 2.5 %. Result: Zakat due: 2,500.00; Nisab in money: 34,000.00; Status: Nisab reached, zakat is due.
Limits and caveats
- Assumes the amount stayed above the nisab for a full lunar year; the 2.5% rate is editable.
- Metal prices change daily, so enter the price on the day you pay.
Questions about this tool
Is zakat due on my monthly salary?
Most scholars say not on receipt; zakat is due on what you save once it reaches the nisab and a lunar year passes.
What if my savings grew during the year?
Many scholars allow adding the growth to the original sum and paying on the whole on one date.
Do I count bank interest?
Most contemporary scholars say interest is given away to charity rather than zakated, so leave it out.
