How do I price a bundle of three products that ship together in one parcel?

Add the three product costs together as the cost, enter one shipping charge only, then your fees and margin. Three products costing 35, 25 and 20, with shipping of 18, 5% fees and a 25% margin, make a bundle priced at 140, while the three sold separately add up to 191.43.

Where the saving comes from

When a customer buys the three items in three orders, you pay shipping three times, and fees and margin are calculated on each shipment. A bundle ships once. That difference is real, and you can hand it to the customer as a discount or keep part of it as profit.

Work out both sides

  1. In the Selling-price calculator, price each product on its own with its shipping, fees and margin.
  2. Add the three prices to see what the customer would pay buying them separately.
  3. Price the bundle: total cost in the cost field, one shipping charge, the same fees and margin.
  4. The gap between the total and the bundle price is the biggest discount you can give without dropping below your margin.
Worked example

Product one (cost 35): 75.71. Product two (cost 25): 61.43. Product three (cost 20): 54.29.

Total bought separately: 191.43, with profit across the three orders of 47.86.

Bundle (cost 80, shipping 18): price 140, profit 35, margin 25%.

Do not give away the whole saving

A price of 140 keeps the margin percentage, but notice the bundle's profit of 35 is less than the 47.86 earned across three separate orders. The margin is a share of a smaller price. If you want the bundle to earn more than the singles, price it between the two figures.

Example: a bundle at 160. Fees at that price are 8, profit 54, margin 33.75%. The customer saves 31.43 against buying separately, a discount of roughly 16.4% that you can confirm in the Discount calculator, and you earn more than the three orders combined. Both sides win, and the only reason is the two shipments that never happened.

Check the heavier parcel

We assumed the bundle ships for the same price as a single order. In practice the parcel may be bigger or heavier and cost a little more. Enter the real shipping cost of the combined parcel, not the cost of shipping one item, or part of the advantage you calculated disappears. Once the bundle is live, check the margin on the first real orders with the Profit margin calculator.

Common questions

Do I count packaging once for the bundle?

Yes, if the bundle is packed in one parcel, the packaging cost goes into fixed fees once.

What if one of the products runs out?

The calculation does not track stock. If an item in the bundle runs out, reprice the bundle or pause it until it is back.
