Questions
- How to price a product when shipping and fees eat your profitThe right way to price a product so you keep the margin you want after shipping, payment fees and commissions, with a worked example step by step.
- How do I set my Noon price if the commission on my statement is 15%?Take the commission rate and fixed fee from your own Noon statement, enter them with your margin, and get a price that covers the cut and keeps the profit you planned.
- How do I price for Amazon.sa when I pay both a referral percentage and a fixed fulfilment fee?The referral fee is a percentage of price; the fulfilment fee is a fixed amount per unit. Put each in its own field for a price that covers both, counted once.
- How do I price products on Shopify when the payment provider takes a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction?Payment providers take a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction. Enter each part in its own field and see why the fixed part hits cheap products hardest.
- I run a home kitchen selling through delivery apps; how do I price a dish after the app's commission?Ingredients are the cost, packaging a fixed fee, delivery is on the app, and commission comes off the menu price. Here is how to price a dish that still pays you.
- Why does my price come out at two and a half times cost with 30% fees and a 30% margin? With 30% fees and a 30% margin only 40% of the price is left to cover cost, so price is cost divided by 0.4. Each extra point pushes the price up faster than the last.
- If I offer free shipping, how much do I need to raise the product price to keep my margin?Free shipping lifts the required price by more than the shipping cost, because fees and margin also apply to the added amount. Work out the gap before you announce it.
- How do I build a cash-on-delivery fee into my selling price?A COD fee is a fixed amount per order. Enter it in fixed fees, compare the price with and without it, then choose one price for everyone or a charge for COD orders only.
- Should I use margin mode or markup mode in the selling-price calculator, and how different are the prices? The same percentage gives two prices: a 30% margin gives 100 and a 30% markup gives 83.33 from identical inputs. See what each mode measures and which fits how you think.
- How do I set a wholesale price for shops that buy from me in bulk?Wholesale means no marketplace fee, delivery spread over many units and a lower margin. Enter them as they are to get the trade price and its gap to retail.
- How much should I charge on a freelance platform so I actually receive my target amount after its cut?The platform takes its cut from what the client pays, not from what you want. To net 800 with a 20% cut, charge 1000, not 960. Here is how to work it out exactly.
- What is the lowest price I can sell at without losing money after all fees?Set the target margin to zero with every cost and fee, and the calculator returns your break-even price. Any discount or deal below it loses money on each order.
- The calculator gave me 105.71; should I round to 104.99 or 109.99?Rounding down drops your margin below target and rounding up lifts it. Check the margin of each candidate price before choosing the one that goes on the product page.
- How do I price a bundle of three products that ship together in one parcel?A bundle saves two shipments and their fees, so it can cost less than three separate items at the same margin or better. Here is how to price it and compare with singles.
- How do I include my advertising cost per order in the selling price?Take your average ad cost per order from campaign results and add it to fixed fees before solving. If the price ends up above what buyers pay, fix the ad cost.
- Does the price from the selling-price calculator include VAT?No. The calculator gives a price before tax. Add VAT afterwards at the rate that applies to you, and never put it in the fee field, because it is not your cost.
- My platform takes commission on the price plus the shipping the customer pays; how do I adjust the calculation? The selling-price calculator assumes commission is on the item price only. If your platform also charges it on shipping the customer pays, add that part to fixed fees.
- I buy the product in dollars from abroad; how do I work out its selling price in riyals with shipping and fees?Convert the purchase cost at the rate your bank actually charged, with conversion fees, then enter it. Try a worse rate too, to see how much buffer the price needs.
- Should my price on Instagram and WhatsApp be lower than on marketplaces?Solve the same product twice: with the marketplace commission, and with only your direct channel's fees. The gap is how far a direct price can drop at the same margin.
- I want a fixed profit of 20 per piece rather than a percentage; how do I get the price? The calculator takes a percentage target, but you can enter the profit you want as a fixed fee with a zero margin, and it solves the price that leaves exactly that.
- Most of my customers order two pieces at a time; how do I spread shipping across the price per piece? The calculator assumes one product per order. If orders hold two pieces, split shipping across them for a lower unit price, but check what happens to a one-piece order.
- If I add buy-now-pay-later with higher fees than my card gateway, should I raise my prices?Solve once at your card gateway rate and once at the BNPL rate in your contract. The gap is what an installment order costs you; then absorb it, pass it on or average it.
- I make my products by hand; how do I price them and count my own time as a cost?Multiply the hours each piece takes by the rate you want to pay yourself and add it to materials before solving. Otherwise your work is free.
- I always price at double my cost; why is that not enough when I sell on a platform that takes commission?Double the cost is a 100% markup only before fees. When a platform takes commission from the price, the real markup drops. Markup mode lifts the price so 100% survives.
- I want to offer a 20% coupon in Ramadan; what should the list price be so I still keep a 15% margin after it?First solve the price that hits your margin after the discount, then divide it by what the coupon leaves. That gives the list price to show before Ramadan starts.
- How do I work out a dropshipping selling price when the supplier ships straight to the customer?Supplier price is cost, their delivery charge is shipping, the app fee is fixed, the gateway is a percentage. Where dropshipping numbers go, and what stays out.
- Are my costs and prices stored or visible to anyone when I use the selling-price calculator? No. The calculation runs in your browser, and the numbers you type are neither sent to a server nor kept after you leave. Here is where the real risk lies.
- Why does the calculator give a tiny price for my e-book that costs nothing to produce per copy? The calculator builds price from costs, and an e-book costs nothing per copy, so the result is a floor, not a price. Use it for your minimum.
- I pay a platform commission and a payment gateway fee; do I add the two percentages in one field?Yes, if both are charged on the full selling price, with fixed parts in fixed fees. If one uses another base, the sum overstates it slightly; here is the fix.
- I priced with the calculator, but my actual profit at month end is below the target margin; why?The solved price is exact for one order with your inputs. The gap comes from outside them: rounding, fees on another base, VAT, returns, ads or coupons. How to find it.
- How do I cover the cost of returns in my selling price?Multiply your return rate by the cost of one return and add the result to fixed fees before solving. Each order then carries its share of returns.
