How to use it

  1. Enter pallet length, pallet width, max load height above the pallet, carton length, carton width and carton height.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Cartons per layer = the larger of (⌊pallet length ÷ carton length⌋ × ⌊pallet width ÷ carton width⌋) and the same with the carton turned 90°. Layers = ⌊max height ÷ carton height⌋. Total = layers × per layer, capped at ⌊max weight ÷ carton weight⌋.

Example

Inputs: Pallet length = 120 cm, Pallet width = 100 cm, Max load height above the pallet = 150 cm, Carton length = 40 cm, Carton width = 30 cm. Result: Cartons per pallet: 54; Cartons per layer: 9; Layers: 6.

Limits and caveats

  • It uses a simple pattern with every carton in a layer facing the same way; mixed patterns can fit more.
  • It assumes cartons stand upright and do not overhang the pallet edge.

Questions about this tool

What pallet sizes are common?

The ISO 120 × 100 cm pallet is widespread in the Gulf, and the Euro pallet is 120 × 80 cm.

Should I include the pallet deck height?

No. Enter the maximum height of goods above it. If the total limit is 165 cm and the pallet is 15 cm, enter 150.

Why does the count drop when I add a max load?

Weight can reach the limit before the height fills up, so the smaller of the space limit and the weight limit is used.
