How to use it
- Enter campaign spend, number of leads and close rate (optional).
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
CPL = spend ÷ leads. Expected customers = leads × close rate ÷ 100. Cost per customer = spend ÷ expected customers.
Example
Inputs: Campaign spend = 3,000, Number of leads = 120, Close rate (optional) = 10 %. Result: Cost per lead: 25.00; Expected customers: 12; Cost per paying customer: 250.00.
Limits and caveats
- Cost per paying customer is an estimate based on the close rate you enter.
- It leaves out the sales team time spent following up leads.
Questions about this tool
What counts as a lead?
Someone who left their details or asked to be contacted, such as filling a form or messaging from the ad, but has not bought yet.
Why add the close rate?
CPL alone can mislead: cheap leads that never buy can cost more than pricier leads that do. The close rate turns it into the cost of each real customer.
How do I find my close rate?
Divide the number who bought by the number of leads in the same period and multiply by 100, using your sales log or CRM.
