How it is calculated
CPC = cost ÷ clicks. Rearranged: cost = CPC × clicks, and clicks = cost ÷ CPC.
Example
Inputs: Solve for = CPC (price per click), Total cost = 450, Clicks = 300, CPC (price per click) = 1.5. Result: Cost per click: 1.50.
Limits and caveats
- Real click prices move with the auction every day, so the result is an average for the period you entered.
- Expected clicks assume the price per click stays the same.
Questions about this tool
What pushes the cost per click up?
More advertisers bidding on the same audience or keyword, an ad that matches its landing page poorly, and busy seasons when ad spend rises.
Is every click a site visit?
Not always. Some clicks never finish loading the page, so analytics usually shows fewer visits than the ad platform shows clicks.
How do I get CPC from CPM and CTR?
CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR × 10) with CTR as a percentage. For example, a CPM of 10 and a CTR of 2% give CPC = 10 ÷ 20 = 0.5.
