How to use it
- Enter solve for, total cost, impressions and cpm (cost per 1,000 impressions).
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
CPM = (cost ÷ impressions) × 1000. Rearranged: cost = CPM × impressions ÷ 1000, and impressions = cost × 1000 ÷ CPM.
Example
Inputs: Solve for = CPM, Total cost = 500, Impressions = 250,000, CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) = 2. Result: CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions): 2.00; Cost per single impression: 0.002.
Limits and caveats
- Impressions count how many times the ad was shown, not how many people saw it.
- Platforms count impressions differently, so compare figures from the same source.
Questions about this tool
What is the difference between CPM and CPC?
With CPM you pay for every thousand impressions whether anyone clicks or not. With CPC you pay only when someone clicks.
Does a low CPM mean a good campaign?
Not by itself. CPM only prices reach; the real outcome shows in clicks, conversions and what they cost.
Why multiply by 1000?
The metric is the cost of a thousand impressions. The M stands for mille, Latin for thousand.
