How it is calculated

Daily wage = monthly salary ÷ day divisor. Hourly wage = daily wage ÷ working hours per day.

Example

Inputs: Monthly salary = 6,000, Days to divide by = 30 days, Working hours per day = 8 h. Result: Daily wage: 200.00; Hourly wage: 25.00; Annual salary: 72,000.00.

Limits and caveats

  • Whether to divide by 30 or by working days depends on your contract or local labour law.
  • Check whether the wage is the basic salary alone or includes allowances.

Questions about this tool

Why divide the salary by 30?

Many Gulf labour systems and contracts treat a month as 30 days for the daily wage, whatever the month length.

What is the daily wage on 6,000 a month?

Divided by 30 it is 200 a day, and over 8 hours that is 25 an hour.

When should I divide by working days only?

When your contract says so, for example 22 or 26 working days a month. The daily wage is higher because the divisor is smaller.
