How to use it

- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Area = (wall length × height − openings) × sides + ceiling area. Sheets = area × (1 + waste ÷ 100) ÷ sheet area, rounded up. A 4 × 8 ft sheet is 1.2192 × 2.4384 m.
Example
Inputs: Total wall length = 16 m, Wall height = 2.7 m, Doors and windows area = 0 m², Sides covered = One side, Ceiling area = 0 m². Result: Sheets needed: 17 pcs; Area to cover: 43.2 m²; Sheet area: 2.88 m².
Limits and caveats
- Screws, tape, joint compound and metal studs are not included.
- Sloped walls or many openings need more than 10% waste.
Questions about this tool
How many sheets for a 5 m partition 2.4 m high?
Both sides make 24 m². With 1200 × 2400 mm sheets (2.88 m²) you need 9 before waste, 10 with 10%.
What is the common sheet size?
1200 × 2400 mm in the Gulf and Europe, and 4 × 8 ft (1.2192 × 2.4384 m) in the US.
Should I subtract doors and windows?
Subtract large openings. Offcuts from small ones are rarely reused, so you can leave them in.
