How to use it
- Enter amount, measure and density.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Grams = volume in mL × 1.4329 g/mL. The density comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, "Honey"): one US cup (236.59 mL) of honey weighs 339 g. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 1, Measure = US cup (236.6 mL), Density = 1.4329 g/mL. Result: Weight in grams: 339 g; Weight in ounces: 11.96 oz; Volume in millilitres: 236.6 mL.
Limits and caveats
- 1.4329 g/mL is an average for commercial honey; honey with more moisture is slightly lighter.
- You can edit the density if you have a measured value for your honey.
Questions about this tool
How many grams are in a cup of honey?
A US cup (236.6 mL) holds about 339 g of honey, and a 250 mL metric cup about 358 g.
Why do websites give different numbers?
Some use a 240 mL or 250 mL cup and some round heavily. Pick your cup size from the list to get a matching figure.
How do I stop honey sticking to the cup?
Coat the cup with a little oil before pouring so the honey slides out. A scale is still more accurate than a cup.
