IBAN validator
Before sending a transfer or saving a payee, the tool checks the IBAN against ISO 13616 and catches common slips such as a missing or swapped digit.

Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter iban.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Move the first 4 characters to the end, replace each letter with a number (A = 10 to Z = 35), and the IBAN is valid when that number mod 97 equals 1. Check digits = 98 minus the remainder computed with 00 in their place.
Example
Inputs: IBAN = SA03 8000 0000 6080 1016 7519. Result: Result: Valid IBAN; Country: Saudi Arabia; Length entered: 24.
SA03 8000 0000 6080 1016 7519
03
Limits and caveats
- The check proves the number is well formed only; it does not confirm the account exists or belongs to the right person.
- The length table covers the most used IBAN registry countries; for others only the mod 97 test runs.
Questions about this tool
How long are Saudi and UAE IBANs?
A Saudi IBAN has 24 characters starting with SA, a UAE IBAN 23 starting with AE, Kuwait 30 and Qatar 29.
Does the check catch every mistake?
It catches every single-character error and most swaps of two adjacent characters, the most common typing slips.
Why does the tool show different correct check digits?
When the test fails it computes the digits that would make the rest valid, but the error may be elsewhere, so recheck the number at its source.
