How it is calculated
Grams = volume in mL × 1.0356 g/mL. The density comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, "Milk, buttermilk, fluid, cultured, lowfat"): one US cup (236.59 mL) of cultured buttermilk (laban) weighs 245 g. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 1, Measure = US cup (236.6 mL), Density = 1.0356 g/mL. Result: Weight in grams: 245 g; Weight in ounces: 8.64 oz; Volume in millilitres: 236.6 mL.
Limits and caveats
- The density is for low-fat cultured buttermilk; full-fat laban is very close.
- The density can be edited.
