How it is calculated

Accrued = yearly entitlement × months worked ÷ 12. Available = accrued + carried over. Remaining = available − taken.

Example

Inputs: Yearly entitlement = 21 days, Months worked this year = 6, Days carried over = 0 days, Days taken = 5 days. Result: Remaining balance: 5.5 days; Leave accrued: 10.5 days; Available before taken: 10.5 days.

Limits and caveats

  • Assumes equal monthly accrual; some employers grant the full year up front.
  • A negative balance means leave taken in advance.
