How to use it
- Enter date of birth and today's date.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
The birth date is converted to Umm al-Qura Hijri, then the same day and month is taken in the current or next Hijri year so it is not before today, and the dates are subtracted.
Example
Inputs: Date of birth = 1990-05-15, Today's date = 2026-09-30. Result: Days left: 179 days; Gregorian date: Sunday, March 28, 2027 (2027-03-28); Hijri date: 20 Shawwal 1448 AH.
Limits and caveats
- It follows the Umm al-Qura calendar and can differ by a day from local moon sighting.
- For someone born on the 30th of a Hijri month, the birthday is the 29th in years when that month has 29 days.
Questions about this tool
Why does my Hijri birthday move every year?

Yes, about once every 33 years, when it lands in early January and again in late December.
How far apart are Hijri and Gregorian age?
Hijri age gains about one year for every 33 Gregorian years.
