How it is calculated
Retirement date = birth date + (retirement age in years × 12 + extra months) months, using the month's last day when the birth day does not exist. Time left = retirement date − today.
Example
Inputs: Date of birth = 1990-05-15, Retirement age = 60 years, Extra months = 0 months, Today's date = 2026-09-30. Result: Retirement age reached on: Sunday, May 15, 2050 (2050-05-15); Weekday: Sunday; Days left: 8,628.
Limits and caveats
- Retirement age is set by your pension scheme or employer and differs by country and sector; 60 is only an example.
- Some schemes end service at the end of the month or financial year, which is not applied here.
Questions about this tool
Which retirement age should I enter?

When does someone born on 29 February retire?
If the retirement year is not a leap year, the date is 28 February.
Does it calculate my pension amount?
No. It gives the date and time left only; the pension depends on your scheme's rules and years of service.
