How to use it
- Enter amount, measure and density.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Grams = volume in mL × 0.913 g/mL. The density comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, "Oil, olive, salad or cooking"): one US cup (236.59 mL) of olive oil weighs 216 g. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 1, Measure = US cup (236.6 mL), Density = 0.913 g/mL. Result: Weight in grams: 216 g; Weight in ounces: 7.62 oz; Volume in millilitres: 236.6 mL.
Limits and caveats
- Oil density shifts slightly with temperature; this value is for room-temperature oil.
- Edit the density for other oils.
